At Sleep Better Austin, our sleep dentists and team are dedicated to helping you achieve the best health and sleep you can, which is why we offer a number of treatments for addressing common sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.

Traditional Treatments

Treatments for sleep apnea may depend on the severity of your condition. One traditional treatment for sleep apnea is a continuous positive airway pressure machine, otherwise known as a CPAP machine, which sends a consistent oxygen flow directly into your nose and mouth as you sleep, helping you breathe normally. CPAP machines can prevent pauses in breathing while you sleep without waking you up, but they can also be uncomfortable to wear and make it more difficult for wearers to fall asleep. CPAP machines can occasionally cause dry mouth and nasal congestion. For patients with anxiety, wearing CPAP masks can cause claustrophobia.

If you suffer from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, there may be other options, however. Our sleep dentists may recommend simple oral appliance therapy as the main alternative to CPAP therapy. These appliances fit over your teeth, keeping your airway open while you sleep by putting pressure on your tongue or by holding your jaw in a position that prevents your airway from becoming blocked.

At Sleep Better Austin we have been able to help many of our patients overcome obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. You can hear more about their success stories below:
