What is the SomnoDent Avant™ device?
SomnoDent Avant™ is an oral device made by SomnoMed® for the treatment of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. When worn over the teeth, the SomnoDent Avant device moves the lower jaw slightly forward to keep the airway open during sleep.
Who should use it?
Dr. Kerr and Dr. Hedgecock may recommend the SomnoDent Avant device for those with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. This oral device may be particularly useful for those who do not tolerate CPAP treatment.
What should I expect?
When you visit Sleep Better Austin, our sleep dentists will take an impression of your teeth so that your SomnoDent Avant device can be made specifically for your smile. Your device will be designed using CAD/CAM technology to ensure proper fit, function, and comfort. Once your oral device is complete, wear it during sleep as instructed by our sleep dentists. The SomnoDent Avant device can keep the airways from collapsing during sleep.
